Project NExT week

The week after next, I will be attending a workshop called Project NExT in Madison, Wisconsin. “NExT” stands for New Experiences in Teaching.

From their web site:

NExT is a professional development program for new or recent Ph.D.s in the mathematical sciences. It addresses all aspects of an academic career: improving the teaching and learning of mathematics, engaging in research and scholarship, and participating in professional activities.

They offer a number of lectures on these subjects, as well as activities and reference materials. I will also attend a special workshop on teaching math for liberal arts. (Nevermind that math is a liberal art.) I expect it will serve me well when I’m called upon to teach such a class.

I’m looking forward to it!

I assume you don’t mean the information but rather the appearance and technology.

I’ve had some memorable experiences with professional development workshops. One managed to make me physically sick (stomach flu) :) . How’s this one shaping up to be so far?
